On August 25, 2021, West Virginia State University embarked upon a transformative renovation project that includes installation of artificial turf, stadium lights, and new bleachers to accommodate future football contests, women’s soccer matches, and community events.
The project was made possible through a $1.28 million pledge from the Honey Bear project to fully fund the turf. A $150,000 gift from the Kanawha County Commission kicked off the funding for the lights and bleachers.
The Bernard H. and Blanche E. Jacobson Foundation provided a $250,000 matching gift challenge.
Successfully meeting the challenge will enable the WVSU Foundation to fully fund the lights and bleachers…completing Phase 1 of the project.
Your gift will help provide funding to meet the matching gift challenge and complete the funding for this exciting project.
Gifts at various levels will be recognized on a plaque prominently displayed at the Dickerson Stadium entrance.
